Cascade is very pleased to announce the completion of all construction activities and plant installation at the Chehalis Basin Mitigation Bank (CBMB) in Hanaford Valley. The purpose of CBMB is to restore wetland and floodplain functionality, and to restore wetland habitat to generate mitigation credits. Credits will be applied to future projects that will have an adverse impact on the aquatic environment, and that need mitigation to fulfill permit requirements. The bank site was selected because it has the potential to provide ecological functional lift and would expand on two previously developed mitigation projects along Big Hanaford Creek. These two previously constructed sites combined provide 149.77 acres of successful wetland, riparian, and stream restoration on Big Hanaford Creek; construction of the CBMB will increase the area of contiguous floodplain restoration to approximately 327 acres. Cascade has assisted with the design, MBI preparation, permitting, site preparation, and construction assistance on the CBMB site. CBMB construction included ditch filling, removal of sediment pond berms, restoring segments of seasonal and semi-permanent tributary streams, habitat structure placement, invasive species removal and native plant establishment. We are excited to see this work completed by our client at TransAlta Centralia Mining. MORE Comments are closed.
